Coach Megan Glynn
Hi, I'm Megan, the founder and training director at Halt Square. I'm a fellow equestrian who's no stranger to overcoming physical challenges while chasing my equestrian dreams. With a background in professional fitness training and nutrition, I decided to combine all three passions to create Halt Square. What I've learned over the years is there is nothing we wouldn't do for our horses. It’s time to do one more thing for them: start focusing on our own fitness, health and nutrition.
My journey with horses began when I was just 5-years-old, and it’s been an incredible ride ever since. Being an equestrian isn’t just a hobby; it’s a way of life. However, the daily grind of riding, coupled with the demands of past sports and everyday life, took a toll on my body. Over the last few years, I started experiencing unbearable lower back pain when riding. I could no longer absorb my horse’s movements without experiencing extreme pain. My position started to change and imbalances began to show in myself and my horse.
As an athlete in other sports, I have learned to push through the pain and it would eventually go away. When I realized this was not an option for my riding, I knew I had to take serious action to keep my momentum as an equestrian athlete. I realized that I needed to take my well-being just as seriously as I took my horse’s health.
It struck me that while our horses have their team of experts, including chiropractors, massage therapists, osteopaths, and nutritionists, we riders often neglect our own needs. Being an equestrian myself, I understand the dedication, time and financial costs it takes to own a horse no matter what level or discipline you ride in. We’d do anything for our equine partners, so why not do one more thing for them by focusing on our own fitness, health, and nutrition?
